Capt. Mark Souter was born in Australia where he qualified as an A grade electrician and raced sailing yachts in Melbourne, Victoria. He then went to the United Kingdom and bought his first yacht S/Y "Gipsy Moth" (previously owned by Sir Francis Chichester) and cruised extensively around Europe.
Since then Capt. Mark has qualified as a "Master of Yachts" (MCA) at Warsash Maritime Centre (UK); received a diploma in Marine Surveying with accreditation in Superyachts at Lloyd's Maritime Academy, London and gained a certificate in Naval Architecture also from Lloyd's Maritime Academy. He is also a full member of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors (M.I.I.M.S.).
For over 30 years he has worked as a professional Captain aboard Superyachts. In between his Captain duties he has project managed and Marine Surveyed new build Yachts in the USA, Italy and Greece. Additionally, he has gained extensive experience relating to Superyacht operation and management.
He continues to work as a Captain and Marine Surveyor writing, lecturing and participating in the world of motor yacht building whenever called upon.
